Round-up: The Golden Globes

Amber Heard, Taylor Swift, Emma Roberts, Lupita Nyong’o, Emilia Clarke, Jennifer Lawrence, Sofia Vergara looked...

Kickstarting Hollywood awards season with a bang, it was almost impossible to pick the best looks of the evening!

Amber Heard

The actor looks absolutely breathtaking in this navy blue silk Versace gown. Blue has been creeping into the red carpet limelight in recent times, with a number of stars opting to don the colour. Heard’s hair and makeup are both flawless, and the cut of her dress really makes her stand out. She looks like the first day of summer. Full points!

Taylor Swift

Does she ever look bad? The I Knew You Were Trouble crooner proves that colour blocking is still very much a trend with this pink and black Carolina Herrera gown. Retro curls and red lips are Swift’s go to look on the red carpet. Love this look, and how J Law photo-bombed her on the red carpet.

Emma Roberts

Emma Roberts looks absolutely divine in this black, mermaid Lanvin gown. With statement turquoise earrings and a sleek up-do, Roberts has come a long way. We suspect that the recent news of her rumoured engagement may have caused a shift in her wardrobe choices. Looks like Julia Roberts’ baby niece is all grown up now!

Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong’o, proved that being a Golden Globes newbie doesn’t mean you have to show up looking less-than-glamorous. Nyong’o wore a breathtaking crimson column gown by Ralph Lauren. The bright red gown fell off the rising star’s delicate shoulders and flowed out into a ‘60s inspired cape. It takes a great gown and an even greater beauty to pull off a dress exactly the same colour as the carpet. The Kenyan raised actor — who also just graduated from Yale — was easily one of the best dressed at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in a dramatic but simple dress.

Emilia Clarke

It’s hard to imagine Daenerys Targaryen without cascading platinum blonde hair or dragons on her shoulders, but here she is. Emilia Clarke is actually a brunette, and we can’t get over how different she looks. Her strapless Proenza Schouler is gorgeous, and we appreciate that she shied away from staple designers. However, we feel she could have done without those chunky bangles. Oh well, we still love you Khaleesi!

Jennifer Lawrence

Who wouldn’t want a closet full of Dior. Lawrence, in Dior (as usual) looks stunning (as usual). We hear she had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction on the red carpet though, when her diamond bracelet flew off, but that hardly counts right? We love her, and will continue to do so. Blonde or brunette, long hair or short, Katniss Everdeen is the epitome of gorgeous, and our ultimate tribute in the Style Games.

Sofia Vergara

The Modern Family star is Forbes’ highest paid actor, and she definitely dresses the part. Zac Posen, take a bow for this ensemble. Turquoise jewellery looks to be an upcoming trend, and Vergara’s stunning necklace seems to be making sure of it. With her hair hanging loose and a million dollar smile permanently on her face, it’s very difficult to believe that this star is 41-years-old.
