Anniversary dinner: ‘Old Ravians have served Pakistan well’

“Pakistan’s missile defence system was designed by a team of Ravians, who had been working aboard at organisations like NASA. They sacrificed their jobs to serve their motherland,” Dr Samar Mubarakmand said on Thursday.


He was addressing the Dinner and Musical Night organised by GCU Vice Chancellor Khaleequr Rahman to mark the university’s 150th anniversary.

Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar was the chief guest. Dr Mubarakmand, an Old Ravian, said he was happy to be at the ceremony.

He said Pakistan could produce electricity for the whole country by using coal gases. He said he hoped that electricity would be produced from coal gas in Pakistan in 2014. The governor congratulated the VC, faculty and the students. He said the there was no mechanism in Pakistan to utilise the talent of youth. He said he was trying to set up a system to better benefit from the talent of the country’s youth.
