Proclaimed offenders: Policeman injured in encounter

RAWALPINDI: A police constable was injured in an encounter with a gang of the most wanted proclaimed offenders in the Airport area of Rawalpindi on Thursday, police said. Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided a hideout in Morgah to arrest them however they opened indiscriminate fireat them injuring a constable identified as Zafar. The police also retaliated but all four criminals managed to flee from the scene. The suspected proclaimed offenders are on the list of ten most wanted criminals of Rawalpindi involved in murders, kidnapping for ransom and robbery incidents. “During the raid, all of the criminals escaped. We have information that the accused are still present in the area,” said Naveed Ahmed, operator of SP Pothwar Town.
