Farhan takes CNS squash title

Peshawar-based player beats Nasir Iqbal in final.

KARACHI: Entering the main rounds as a qualifier, Farhan Mehboob ended as the eventual winner of the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) International Squash Championship after blanking Nasir Iqbal 3-0 in Karachi on Monday.

The 25-year old from Peshawar availed all his experience to defeat the 19-year-old Iqbal in straight games in 51 minutes to win the $15,000 tournament at the Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan Squash Complex.

Farhan won the first set 11-6, but not before engaging in long rallies as the youngster from Bannu put up a strong fight.

Meanwhile, the second game also saw the southpaw winning with the same scores before he sealed the title with a 11-5 scoreline in the third set.

CNS Admiral Mohammad Asif Sandila was the chief guest at the closing ceremony that was also attended by the game’s legend Jahangir Khan.
