We here at The Express Tribune struggled long and hard in an attempt to come up with a list of 10 people who deserve to be nominated for person of the year - and we want you to help us decide.

My vote is for Perween Rehman because she lived and died for the poor.
Parveen was a women who dedicated her life for the poorest class and the dignity of the nation by developing the country on self-help basis. She believed that nations can not attain the level of dignity with foreign aid. She helped people of Karachi to obtain land rights over 1200 acres and evacuate from land grabbers. She supported millions of people to improve their living conditions. She undertook researches to give low-cost solution for two basic rights; housing and sanitation. She provided low-cost shelters in all the natural and human induced calamities since 2005 to 2012.

This list is flaw-full in many senses. First of all Abdul Sattar Eidhi, how can you place his contributions in the box of 2013 only ? He remains comparison less among all as his work is for humanity sinces years and shall remain same for coming years too. He deserves a solo life time achievemeny nomination. Misbah-ul-haq is another lamness here. Every single person in the list has been critcized in his or her field of interest you can't nominee one on the basis of the amount of crticism faced but struggle made through out. Apart from the last boom against srilanka he has failed to keep his captaincy at the same time he hasnt proved himself as a good leader. And most importantly the list is not properly equalized you must have choosen one person from each category I can see so many of social worker nodoubt good in their respective fields but this divides the number of votes on the basis of their fame. To me list should include one person from every profession same goes for putting IK and Zardari.

Perween Rehman who gave up her life in her quest to save Karachi from the water and land mafia is my 2013 icon. She knew she was under threat but did not give up her mission and continued to create conditions so land could be given to the landless. Her vision of self reliance and honesty, which she lived rather than preached will be an inspiration for Pakistanis forever.

If we are to select the names of people who should be in a list to be voted for "person of the Year" award, we should be looking at selecting names of people who have made us proud by serving the people & hence the nation. We should examine who has served the nation most and helped us raise our head with pride as Pakistanis? Abdul Sattar Edhi - Has worked tirelessly for people consistently for 54 years - contributions of which the nation is proud & grateful. He has provided immediate relief to people directly. Parween Rahman - Worked for & with the poor & disenfranchised, resisted mafia exploiters - contributed to the nation by her courage of standing up for people's rights & direct help. Malala Yusufzai - Her act of peaceful resistance against violence, courage in standing up for girls right to education is a great contribution to the Nation. Her one act questioned hers & the Nation's enemies, who had to publicly negate their stated stand against education of girls. Their attack on the girls, bombing of their schools, enmity of Malala, belies their statement. Misbah-ul-Haq - Can be counted for uniting the team despite setbacks & performing well. He has served the nation by his performance & made us proud. Samina Baig: Can be counted for the courage to break the set perceptions about Pakistani girls & what they can do. She made the nation proud by her contribution to a very important aspect of life - overcoming traditional resistance & gender biases.
Zardari's government was the first elected government to complete its term in Pakistan's entire history. A Master politician. An ethical man? Not so much .

Here is one reason bro....nawaz is a loan defaulter, who became a politican on the soulders of generals. Also, he has bright ideas like yellow cab schemes and freezing foreign currency accounts (of course after transferring his money out). He pays less taxes then he should, has no backbone to stand up to america against drones or any other matter (see wikileaks), and is a terrible public speaker. He hardly spends any time in pakistan and his current govt has hardly began to solve any of the issues that before elections they claimed to have done thier homework and had plans for.

Why is Imran Khan on top of the list? Apparently, tribune has given the result already. This paper has again proven its Pro Pti approach by not including the Prime Ministers name in there. This so called list is biased hence i reject the survey altogether.
Nawaz Sharif was written off by political pundits 15 years ago but his comeback in 2013 was no less than a miracle given that no politician forced out of power by a dictator has struggled so hard to succussfully make a comeback in all legitimate ways. Imran Khan on other hand started his career with the support of Ex ISI chief Hamid Gul in 1997, later supporting Ex Army Chief Musharraf in referrendum and winning his solo seat in 2002 and using the good offices of Ex ISI Chief Shuja Pasha to block Nawaz Sharif's march to victory in 2013. Now this survey will be promoted by PTI on social forums and IK with the support of tribune will go on to become the personality of the year.
However. I believe Iftikhar Chaudary and Fakhruddin G Ibrahim deserve to be on top of the list and the inclusion of Billal Lashari is commendable.

Imran Khan is the heartbeat of Pakistan youth for his remarkable achievement in making us realize our rights and duties. Pakistani youth salutes You. So in my opinion Imran Khan is the person of 2013.

Parveen Rehman was killed as she was reluctant against criminal syndicates. She dedicated her entire life to help the weak in every possible way. Despite of receiving life threats; she continued her mission until the day she laid to rest. Parveen Rehman was killed by four gunmen in March 2013. In my opinion she was Iron Lady of Pakistan who knew how to defend her Turf.
Each and everyone of them, I believe has worked had to promote Pakistan further globally except Asif Ali Zardari and Malala Yousuf Zai, who have all the times made us cring with embarasement in front of the entire world. According to me, it'd be absurd to vote yes for either of them.

Where are the likes of Nawaz Sharif 3rd term PM, still failing and never to be found in assembly!!!!), Shahbaz Sahirf (self proclaimed miracle man of Punjab, so called Khadim of the people who would not spare any single moment of media coverage be it Minar- e Pakistan office, riding a motor bike or copying ZA Bhutto by breaking microphones!!!!!!, Moulana Fazal( Once again carrying the portfolio of Kashmir Committee, if anything this shows are commitment to Kashmir!!!!!!!!!!)
Imran khan should win it although He didn't succeed in the elections but the way he motivated the nation to vote and they way he took lead his party from nowhere to the 3rd largest party in the parliement.
Where is Parvez Musharraf? The greatest and incomparable to robbers like Iftikhar Chaudhary and Zardari. Inclduing Eidhi sahib with them is his insult. Shame on ET.

Imran Khan to me is unquestionably is the personality of the year, as he has come a long way without giving up even at the cost of his family life. However, he is picking up on incorrect matters but nevertheless the he is authentic and at least trying his finest in these ambiguous circumstances.

Why zardari is there in this list. Zardare had ruined the economy of Pakistan that Mr. Musharraf created by hardwork.

Though all above have contribution one way or an other and are great people in their own way. My salute goes to the entire nation for going towards change through peaceful means. The one who chosen violance be security forces or opposed need promote to unity, discipline and faith in the future of Pakistan that is colorful, dynamic, peaceful and give future generations a better future for all!
