PESHAWAR:

A man shot and injured his sister and mother-in-law in Ghazi Baba, Landi Arbab, near Banamari police station on Friday.

Rahat Ali’s injured sister Zahra Bibi filed a report with the police stating that her brother’s mother-in-law Basigha had come to visit them when the three had an argument. During the fight, Ali took out his Kalashnikov and shot her and Basigha.

According to the police official, the injured were then rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital where Basigha succumbed to her injuries.

“Zahra is the sister of the accused while the deceased is his mother-in-law.  He opened fire at them after a domestic dispute,” said the official. He added the accused made a safe escape after committing the crime.

“We have registered an FIR and are investigating the matter.” The police official refuted claims that the incident was an act of terrorism and said it seemed more of a result of a prolonged conflict.
