LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Tuesday sought comments from the Gulberg station house officer by November 20 on a petition against the sports director general, a senior hockey coach, the administration assistant director, the Sports Board Hockey Stadium superintendent and six others for allegedly stealing some items from the petitioner’s office.

The judge had sought comments from the SHO at the previous hearing but he had not appeared in court nor submitted a comment.

Petitioner Azra Perveen, the sports and coaching deputy director, said she arrived at her office on October 30 and found a man sitting in her office. He said that the office had been allotted to him by Sports DG Usman Anwar and Deputy Director Walayat Shah.

She said that she had found out that two laptops, a mobile phone, five prize bonds of Rs40,000 each, four prize bonds of Rs750 each, the documents of her car and other office documents were missing.

She said Anwar, Senior Hockey Coach Amir Jalil, Admin Assistant Director Nadeem Anjum, Hockey Stadium Superintendent Zahoor Ahmed and six others had stolen the documents and valuables.

She said Anwar had illegally transferred her.

Perveen said she had requested the Gulberg SHO to file a complaint but he refused to do so. She asked the court to direct the SHO to register a case against the suspects.

Family forcing girl to become a prostitute

An additional district and sessions judge on Tuesday directed the Factory Area station house officer to record the petitioner’s statement against her family alleging they threw acid at her for refusing to prostitute.

Petitioner Shazia Bibi said that her family ran a prostitution ring and they had tried to force her to be part of it.

She said that she was a practicing Muslim and had refused to become a prostitute. She said a few months back her family members had then thrown acid at her burning her face and arms.

Shazia Bibi said they had also detained her in a room and beaten her several times a day. She said she had managed to escape a week back but now her family was threatening her with dire consequences.

She said that she had visited the SHO with her complaint but he did not register a case. She requested the court to direct the SHO to register a case against her family members for throwing acid on her, forcing her to become a prostitute and for beating her.

Case sought against doctor over arm amputation

An additional district and sessions judge has directed the Factory Area SHO to record a woman’s statement against a doctor who allegedly gave her an injection that resulted in her arm being amputated.

Petitioner Rani Bibi submitted that she had felt a pain in her left arm a few weeks ago and went to a clinic run by a Dr Shafqat.

The doctor gave her an injection for the pain, she said. But a while later, her arm turned yellow, she said.

She went to a hospital, where doctors told her that she had been injected with expired medicine, she said. They had to surgically remove her left arm, she said.

Rani Bibi said that she approached the police but the SHO did not register a case. She asked the court to direct the SHO to register a case against the doctor.
