KARACHI: The greenshirts will play an eagerly anticipated match today against archrivals India at the Asian Champions Trophy in Kakamigahara, Japan.

Defending champions Pakistan are on top of the table with successive victories over Oman (8-0), China (5-1) and Malaysia (1-0) respectively, and appear favourites to secure a place in the final.

India, on the other hand, are struggling after taking a solitary victory over Oman from three of their matches after losing to Japan and China.

A victory over their archrivals will ensure Pakistan a place in the final.

“We are in a good position and confident,” head coach and manager Tahir Zaman told The Express Tribune ahead of the match. “It may be not be a must win game for us but we are aiming for victory to cement our place in final.”

However, the coach added that his team will have to put a well-rounded show, terming India a tough opponent.

I love hockey, and I don't love it for any other reason than when I get out there and play, I enjoy it.Sometimes guys need to cry. Some hockey players think they're too tough to cry.
