KARACHI: The police, Coast Guard, Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and customs are involved in drug smuggling Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry stated during a hearing of the Karachi law and order case at Supreme Court Karachi Registry, Express News reported on Wednesday.
“Everyone is a mafia. They are only involved in making money,” he added.
He further stated that no one cares about Karachi and its general public.
The chief justice ordered the Director General (DG) ANF to visit Kala Pul and "see what is going on over there".
He also said, "The DG ANF is not doing his work properly".
“3,000 Coast Guard personnel are present in Karachi but they are unsuccessful in stopping drug smuggling,” the chief justice stated expressing his disappointment.
Chief Justice Chaudhry told the attorney general to ask the relevant personnel whether they want to continue doing their work. He also ordered the ANF to provide a certificate stating no drug smuggling will take place in the future.
When questioned about cleansing Karachi of illegal arms, the attorney general said the security forces had asked people to voluntarily submit their weapons to nearby police stations but now, door-to-door inspection will take place.
The Supreme Court on October 29 had rebuked the federal government for not taking steps to control the smuggling of arms, ammunitions, drugs as well as tax evasions on the imports.

@EVERYONE
Come on guys ! Atleast he is saying it out loud.
Is there any example in Pakistan's history where such a similar authority has thrashed a particular mafia so "non-hesitatingly".
( I am NOT a fan of judiciary or the CJ )
Like most third world countries there is systematised and rampant corruption in all fields of life in 'land of pure' On top of that there is brazen hypocrisy where the population claim they are the chosen one and everyone in the world is against them!
Look who is talking.
Agreed. Everyone knows there are people involved but we must apprehend them and put them behind bars.
Yes your honor, you judged it correctly. But (with due respect) you missed to mention Judiciary (at least at lower level) where millions being striped of what ever they had (off course on the name of justice) n champions of honorable profession (name has been protected to save the innocence) daily compete with vultures, just to prove who does better job.
What about you and your Son..... Dear CJP????
Since Zia-Ul-Haq's time several top billioners of Pakistan were Pakistan Army Generals. What was the source of their money?
@The Only Normal Person Here: Even someone is to be apprehended; as a first step bail before arrest, Second step bail-out after charged and Third step two or three years case hearing and get free. Not a single day of punishment.
Thanks to collaboration of concerned officials and judiciary mostly through middlemen or middle-women.
A Peshawary
a saying comes to mind....those who live in glass houses...
One important name has been missed, who legalise all this muck by acquitting them honorably & mind you not for free.
