LONDON: Having a combined Gross Domestic Product (GDP) worth $6.6 trillion, the Islamic countries have a lot to give to the world, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said at the ninth World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) on Tuesday.

The WIEF is being jointly organised by Malaysia and UK from October 29 to 31, 2013 in London.

Commenting on the vast natural resources possessed by the Islamic countries, Nawaz said these Muslim states connect the East with the West.

Speaking about the challenges faced by the world as a whole, Nawaz said Islamic countries should focus on responsible exploitation of resources, scientific progress and human resource development.

He lauded the forum for all its achievements in the last eight years.

Stressing on the effects of globalisation and easy availability of information, Nawaz said that economies should strive to improve the quality of their products as consumers have multiple options available.

The prime minister thanked British Prime Minister David Cameron for taking great interest in the forum.

This is the forum’s first annual event in Europe following its previous successes in Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Kuwait and Pakistan.

The debate in the comments is of absolutely no use. Discussing the wordings of the PM, criticizing, pin-pointing the linguistics again, giving statistics of the cumulative assets etc. My people, why do you not ask what was achieved in this endeavor? Having so many heads of state at one table is nothing but a pandora-box of opportunities. My people why do you not ask why our PM didn't seal development deals with these countries. He has said to have spoken in detail about the resources the Muslim World has, but this indication is of no use if no practical measures are taken to drag the country out of deficit and stunted growth.

So when did economies have their own religion????

Did anyone heard English PM talking about Christian economy or Indian PM talking about Hindu Economy???

Another pathetic attempt by Pakistan who thinks that entire muslim ummah thinks the same and Pakistan are the represntatives for that....

No different from Shoaib Malik who apologized to all muslims of the world for losing T20 final against India when no muslim country other than Pakistan and Bangladesh even care about cricket....
