Animal cruelty: Six arrested for organising dog fight

Police said thousand of rupees of bet money was also recovered.

BAHAWALPUR: Police raided a field in Chak 24, Abbasia on Friday and arrested several fight organisers and dog owners. Despite a ban on dog fight, the participants had come from Channi Goth, Jindupir, Feroza, Akhtar Nagar and Cholistan to bet hundreds of thousands of rupees on the game. Station House Officer Saifullah Khan said that the fight had been organised in a sugarcane field owned by Riaz Ahmad, a lumberdar. He said spectators ran away on seeing the police. Police said some of the men attacked the police team, who had to baton charged the mob. Police said thousand of rupees of bet money was also recovered.

How can Pakistan claim to be runned by Islamic principles and allow such things to happen? Islam prohibits cruelty to animals
