Golf: Naeem shines in international event

Unheralded Naeem Khan displayed a stunning performance to secure the top position at the 52nd Amateur Golf Championship of Pakistan that teed off yesterday at the Lahore Gymkhana.


The 22-year old from Peshawar returned with a card of 72, overcoming various contemporaries as well as foreign participants from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Omer Salamat is placed one stroke behind the leader at a score of gross 71 while Mohsen Zafar is on third with a score of 72.

Meanwhile, Pakistan ‘B’ team comprising Zafar and Mohammad Rehman led the international team event on the opening day with an aggregate of 148.
