PESHAWAR:

The shop of a Hindu trader, Rafiq Lal, was damaged in a grenade attack in Garhi Qamardin on Saturday morning.

Bhanamari police said the attackers tossed a homemade hand grenade at the shop, as a result of which the shutter was badly damaged. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported in the incident because the shop had not opened yet.

“Rafiq Lal had opened a small general store after retiring from government service,” added a police official. “We suspect terrorists were demanding extortion from him and they attacked his store upon his refusal to comply.”

On September 22, a church was targeted by militants, while abductions of Sikh traders have also been reported in the province.
