Farewell for outgoing students

Punjab Post Graduate Nursing College students arranged a farewell party for the graduating senior students on Sunday.

Punjab Nursing Director General Rukhsana Kamal was the chief guest. Principal Ishrat Ishaq and heads and superintendents of all nursing schools in the city also attended the event.

Kamal said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had taken solid steps to establish a strong nursing department. “This is an era of specialisation. Nurses should attend special training courses to equip themselves with modern techniques,” she said.

Ishaq said that the importance of nursing as a profession had increased with the passage of time.

Students who have passed FSc examinations with flying colours feel proud to be part of this profession, she said.

“Nurses play a pivotal role in the recovery of their patients,” Ishaq said, “They must be caring and encouraging towards their patients at all times.” She encouraged the graduating nurses to participate in anti-dengue fever awareness campaigns and work towards creating awareness.

“It is important for nurses to educate people about preventive health and the importance of cleanliness and hygiene,” she said.
