Vaccination campaign: Training of polio teams kicks off

A five-day training workshop for polio vaccinators kicked off in Rahim Yar Khan on Monday. It will continue till August 16. 


As many as 122 training centres have been established at the union council level, in which 1,870 lady health workers and 3,740 volunteers will be provided training in how to collect and record information about children from their parents.

A union council medical officer and area in charge will train the teams. Health EDO Fayyaz Hussain, District Health Officers Dr Hassan Khan and Dr Ahmad, Polio Reduction Officer Niaz Ahmad and UNICEF District In charge Furqan Tatla will monitor the workshops.

Rahim Yar Khan DCO Nabeel Javed and DPO Sohail Zafar Chattha will inaugurate the vaccination campaign on August 17 by administering vaccine drops to some children. A three-day campaign will officially start on August 19 and continue till August 21. As many as 795,500 children under five years of age will be immunised.

Tatla said the campaign could not be successful without support from religious leaders.
