Govt to stand even after Oct 13: Gilani

Published: October 4, 2010

Premier meets Punjab governor to discuss after-effects of the floods

Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani vowed on Sunday that his government would remain in power even after October 13 when the apex court resumes hearing a petition on an amnesty law it had cancelled almost ten months ago.

Though the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) was declared null and void by the Supreme Court  in December 2009, the government has failed to implement the verdict – and prosecute scores of parliamentarians and hundreds of bureaucrats who received amnesty under the controversial law. On September 27, the government sought a two-week delay in the hearing of the petition.

Speaking to reporters in Lahore, the prime minister brushed aside rumours of any threat to the government and voiced confidence that the army, the judiciary and other institutions were out to strengthen democracy in the country. “The president, the prime minister and the army chief do not meet just for photo sessions,” Gilani said while lamenting the speculative stories in the media about the troika’s meeting. He pointed out that there are other times too when the troika holds routine meetings which are not in the knowledge of the media.

Gilani said that he was engaged in negotiations with the president over appointing a new National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman.  In addition, he said, the law ministry, the establishment division and the NAB were reviewing the list of NRO beneficiaries.

Turning his attention to the cross-border attacks that claimed the lives of three Pakistani soldiers, he said that if needed, the government would take stern action in the country’s interest. Already, Nato forces have apologised for the unwarranted attack. But Gilani said that before Islamabad could allow Nato to resume supplies through Pakistan it would re-evaluate the security situation.

Also on Sunday, the prime minister met Punjab Governor Salman Taseer. Discussing the after-effects of the flood during the meeting, the prime minister expressed that all the political parties were united in working towards the rehabilitation of flood survivors.

“The federal government has pioneered a new political culture in the country through the introduction of politics of reconciliation,” he said, adding that the government had put an end to the politics of confrontation and victimisation. The prime minister said that the political atmosphere must not be hampered due to the differences between any two individuals.

The governor apprised the prime minister on the ongoing relief work in the province.

    there are destinations,have to approach,
for example,to see flood effected people
    and their rehabilitation.

    On the other hand,
    Nato forces,stationed in Afghanistan
created a new complication by attacking
on the Pakistan’s sovereignty and killing
    some soliers.
No doubt, Pakistan has taken action on it and stopped
the supply of goods to them
but according to my considered opinion it is not enough.
responsible not only apologize on it but also pay huge
compensation to the heirs of the shaheed soldier.

As for as government in the center is concerned
it has implemented all the decisions taken by the apex court.

As regards,Switzerland money laundering case, the government tried its best
but the authority concerned not ready to open.

In such circumstances what kind of change people want
    perhaps they want red revolution.Recommend

Assalam-o-Allaikum Warahmatullah. As Ghalib said “Dil kay behlanay ko Ghalib se khayal achha hai” and our PM Gillani is seeing committed after this statement to complete his government’s tenure for 5 years but the current unstable political condition has been totally unpredictable and any change may occur any day,any time and by any one either by COAS or Parliament through any means either military coup or legal and constitutional ways. Therefore our leaders must get rid of political instability by removing the corrupt and NRO certified ministers and leadership voluntarily or corrupt and NRO certified ministers and leadership face Supreme Court and NAB against the allegations imposed on them to clear themselves voluntarily so that military coup could be avoided.Recommend

Most of the time Prime Minister speech fragmented, he always got u turn of his statement. the crunch of socio-economic and Judiciary always remains a challenge for Govt. The nostalgic speeches in the Parliament and public places many time lose vanity of Prime Minister, because most of the time the statement changed and it is affirmed that The Prime Minister is the chief executive of the country after 18 Amendment in constitution have increase the responsibility and power as well. it is fractious for the peoples of Pakistan that at one time the Speech of Prime Minister intact with strength and power, at same time it will change. Is there any external pressure or still Prime Ministerial Paragon have no proper road map of his policy and formation. So that it is my opinion it may be wrong.Recommend
