PARACHINAR: The Mutahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Kurram Agency chapter and the Majlis-e-Ulma protested against the attack on Syeda Zainab’s shrine in Damascus, Syria by militants last week. The custodian of the shrine died in the rocket attack. The protest in Parachinar on Monday was led by MQM’s Fata leader Rana Wilayat Ali and local elder Mumtaz Bhai. The protestors, including tribal elders, marched from Shaheed Chowk all the way through Jail Road, Punkabi Bazaar, Hospital Road and back. They gathered at Shaheed Chowk. Addressing the protesters, Wilayat Ali said no one can tolerate such attacks on shrines. He claimed those countries acting against the Syrian government are “the enemies of Islam and friends of anti-Islamic elements”. The protesters demanded the Government of Pakistan condemn the attack in Syria and take steps to protect holy shrines in the war-torn country.
