Bloodbath: CID official among 12 killed in the city

A seminary teacher was shot dead in a targeted attack on Preedy Street.

An official of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) was among 12 people killed in the city on Wednesday.


The deceased, ASI Anwar Ali, was shot dead in SITE. Police officials said that the deceased was on his way home in Baldia Town when armed men on motorcycles shot him thrice and escaped. He was taken to Civil hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Four people, including a woman and political worker, lost lives in the latest wave of violence in Lyari and its surrounding areas. A woman, who was later identified as fifty-year-old Zulekha, wife of Aslam, was killed during cross firing between two groups in Lyari’s Mandara Muhalla within the limits of Chakiwara police station.

A worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Latif, 25, son of Naseer, was shot dead near Lal Masjid in Usmanabad. Garden police said that the victim was killed during crossfire between two rival groups. Another MQM worker was shot dead in Orangi Town. The deceased was identified as Awwal Khan, 40, son of Misar Khan.

Separately, a seminary teacher was shot dead in a targeted attack on Preedy Street, Saddar within the limits of Brigade police station. The deceased was identified as twenty-six-year-old Qari Asadullah, son of Rahim, who hailed from Rahim Yar Khan. Police said that the deceased had no affiliation with any religious or political party.

Other killings

The bodies of three people were found from different areas of the city. The deceased, identified as Amjad, 35, son of Mohammad Rafiq, was found dead from Mirza Adam Khan road, Lyari. A man, who has yet to be identified, was found dead from Chanesor Goth. Another young man was found dead from Nawab Mohammad Khan Road in Lyari. Police officials said that the victim was killed after being kidnapped by unidentified men.
