Girl tells police “she would be shot and everybody back home would be told it was suicide.”
A teenager, claiming she had been forced to marry a man, said if she refused, she would be taken to Pakistan and killed, Daily Mail reported on Wednesday.
According to the report, a 16-year-old girl turned up at a police station in the United Kingdom on her wedding night and claimed she had been forced to marry a man she had only met once.
Hearing the case, Luton County Court was told that the girl expressed fears to the police that “she would be shot and everybody back home would be told it was suicide.”
The Daily Mail report stated that the girl fled her wedding reception, which was attended by up to 1,000 guests, and arrived at a police station “in her pyjamas and in a distressed state.”
The report further revealed that death threats had previously been made against the runaway bride if she refused to marry.
Two women were accused in the case of conspiring to force the girl to marry, breaching court orders issued earlier banning any arranged wedding.
Counsels representing the accused women denied the accusations.

Unfortunately not. This gentleman has some VERY interesting ideas.
For me, the issue is clear: there is a vitalist, strong and decided culture who firmly wants to conquer and a senile, weak and lazy culture who does not want to defend itself. Whose side would you say the odds are? Btw, one of these cultures is Islam, the other West. Guess who is who?

Yeah, I think we need exMuslim protection programs at this point. If she's willing to leave her whole life behind, she should be helped in doing so regardless of whether the others are convicted or not.

@FP: Oh geez I don't know maybe cause it's a relevant fact to the story? She told investigators that she would be taken to Pakistan to be killed. I don't know that could be a reason. Just because a country is mentioned doesn't mean the reporter has some agenda against Pakistan, it's cause it's a fact, and any good journalist is going to report on their facts. Had the girl said she was going to be taken to the US the report would have reflected such. I'm so sick of people trying to pull the race/ethnicity/religion card on reporters anytime it's mentioned. Sorry but journalists are not out there to play to your feelings when reporting, they are there to report facts regardless if the facts up set you or not. And honestly if this mentioning of pakistan upsets you, that is pretty sad. Actually incredibly sad.

Obviously he's only too happy to post nonsense against Pakistan when it clearly says the family are UK nationals; I say good for the girl that she ran away from some likely unemployed welfare living UK Asian. The real issue is that dysfunctional UK Muslims have to start working, get off state khayrat and integrate in society instead of living in ghettos. Only then will they mature and evolve. Pakistanis have moved on and grown but UK Asians are stuck in a time warp of backwardness - that's why you see unemployed youth there becoming extremists and engaing in crime so much.

@FP: 'back home' would appear to cover it, a pakistani forced a pakistani to marry in a country where it is not viewed as acceptable to do so. This is quite possibly being shown on your news as well as english news to portray the incompatability of certain practices in each society, acting as a kind of propoganda (not necessarily for extremism and such, it could be against emmigration, general travel to the EU, etc... Allowing boosts in economy and technological advances as tourism and the workforce are retained to a greater degree within your country).

The main thing that seperates British immigrants from immigrants to the US, Canada etc is education. The people who migrated to Britain were mostly uneducated from rural areas and didn't have any civil sense.

Marriage is a decision that requires the girl and boy's approval,hence the Qabool qabool part. If you're forcing your daughter/sister etc to marry someone and threatening her for her life, this isnt and shouldnt be acceptable at all. A girl is entitled to her choice of groom by religion and should be by our society as well
Why name of Pakistan is drag in this matter.... Surprising.... A UK cititzen forced by another UK citizen to marry in UK and it become headline her in Pakistan.
