KARACHI: President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Muhammad Haroon Agar has suggested that the chamber should encourage fresh graduates to opt for self-employment by establishing small and medium enterprises instead of seeking jobs. The chamber has chalked out a plan for effective and regular interaction between the industry members and the academia to promote entrepreneurship, he said during a visit to Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology. Agar said that KCCI, which has members on the Board of Governors of 20 universities, plans to sign memorandums of understanding to institutionalise an effective relationship with academic institutions, saying that KCCI office bearers and other business leaders may offer lectures on entrepreneurship development, jointly organise seminars, workshops and conferences to achieve the desired objectives.
