Expressing woes: Class-IV employees demand 100% increase in salaries

Say 24-hour duty is an injustice and working hours should be reduced.

The All Class-IV Employees Association demanded an increase in salaries and an end to 24-hour duty in a general body meeting of the association in Swat on Saturday.

Addressing the meeting, All Class-IV Employees Association President Syed Khitab congratulated the newly-elected MPAs and expressed hope the new cabinet of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government will take notice of the burden on class-IV employees.



“Class-IV employees perform 24-hour-long guard duties in all government schools which is an injustice. They cannot leave their assigned schools even to run household errands. If the government is short of staff, it should carry out fresh recruitment. Our duty must be brought at a level equivalent to other government employees,” said Khitab.

The representative also demanded a 100% increase in the salaries of class-IV employees. “Under the previous government, public servants’ salaries were increased while we were ignored. Prices of daily-use commodities have increased over time but our salaries remain the same,” he lamented.



The association further demanded the restoration of the quota reserved for the offspring of employees in government jobs.

Presidents of all subdivisions of the association, Abdur Reham, Behram Khan, Fazal Malik, Ikramullah and Taj Malook were also present on the occasion.
