At least 15 people were killed when a CNG cylinder fitted in a passenger van exploded on Bannu-Mirali Road of North Waziristan Agency on Sunday.


Political administration officials quoted security officials as saying that the passenger van was en route from Peshawar to Mirali tehsil.

The van stopped for security checking at Khajori check post when its CNG cylinder exploded, said an official of the political administration. Thirteen people were killed on the spot and five were wounded. Two of them succumbed to their injuries, while the rest were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu.

According to the official, the victims included a woman and two of her children.
