Seat adjustments: PPP and ANP team up in Karachi

PPP and ANP agree on seat adjustments in 15 constituencies of Karachi.

ANP announced that it would withdraw its candidates from NA-240, NA-250 and NA-258 in favour of PPP.

KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) on Thursday agreed on seat adjustments in 15 constituencies of Karachi,  Express News reported. 

The seat adjustments between the two political parties were announced for four national and 11 provincial assembly seats. Both political parties agreed to withdraw their candidates from the stated constituencies in favour of the other.

The decision was announced during a joint press conference by the ANP Sindh chief Shahi Syed and PPP general secretary Taj Haider at the ANP provincial center, Mardan House in Karachi.

ANP, who withdrew their nine candidates from Sindh in favour of the PPP on Wednesday, announced that it would withdraw its candidates from NA-240, NA-250 and NA-258 in favour of PPP. From the provincial assemblies the ANP withdrew its candidates from PS-90, PS-92, PS-94, PS-113, PS-114, PS-126, PS-129 and PS-130.

PPP, on the other hand withdrew its candidates from NA-241, PS-91, PS-93 and PS-128 in favour of the ANP.

The parties said that both of them are under threat from the militants and have therefore decide to work collectively in the city, Express News correspondent Raza Abidi reported.
