Impressive fifties from Rahul Dravid and Ajinkya Rahane helped Rajasthan Royals register an emphatic nine-wicket victory over Delhi Daredevils in their Indian Premier League match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur yesterday.

The victory meant that Rajasthan are now in second position in the overall standings with 16 points from 12 matches, according to ESPNcricinfo.

Chasing a 155-run target, former India batsman Dravid scored a 54-ball half-century, including seven boundaries.

He was ably supported by Rahane who hit an unbeaten 63 off just 45 balls, smashing one six and five fours.  Shane Watson calmly finished off proceedings with a brisk 28 off 14 balls to give his team a massive win.

“I just want to enjoy my batting, that’s what I did today,” said man-of-the-match Rahane. “We wanted to play the ball on its merit, take it one ball at a time.”

Captain Dravid was satisfied with his team’s performance.

“So far, it’s been working out pretty well for us,” he said. “In Twenty20 cricket, you can’t afford to put a price on your wicket. Rahane has been batting beautifully, he has reacted very well to being dropped from the Champions Trophy.”

Delhi captain Mahela Jayawardene was critical of his side, saying they made mistakes which proved to be critical.

“We made a few mistakes,” said the Sri Lankan. “Rajasthan played some good cricket while we were below par. Everyone’s working hard and trying their best to do well. Everyone goes through seasons like that.”
