BAHAWALPUR:

Polling agents would not be allowed to carry cell phones inside the polling stations. They would also not be allowed to leave the polling station until the counting is completed. This was announced by Rahim Yar Khan District Police Officer Sohail Habib Tajik on Monday at a training workshop for police officials.

Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Tanveer Hussain Tunio, Deputy Superintendent (Legal) Javed Iqbal Bajwa and Security Branch in charge Inspector Jaam Manzoor Ahmad also addressed the trainees.

The DPO said that cell phones had been prohibited so that counters could not communicate with outsiders or members of the political parties.

This way, he said, unofficial results should not be leaked before the counting was completed helping the police avoid untoward incidents. Violators, he said, would not be spared.

The policemen were told that a sub-sector in charge would supervise 10 polling booths.

The DPO said it was mandatory for all investigation officers in the district who had been deployed as sub-sector in charge to have a transport.

Those lacking the facility would have to rent a private transport and would be reimbursed for it.

Those using private vehicles, he said, would get Rs3,000 fuel allowance.

He said the sub-sector in charges were required to submit a list of cell phone numbers of the polling station staff in their jurisdiction to the Security Branch by Tuesday (today).
