GILGIT: A staunch supporter and fan of former president Pervez Musharraf suffered a heart attack and died after hearing the news of the ex-army chief’s arrest orders.
The retired general has been facing legal challenges since he returned to Pakistan in March.
Kacho Nisar, 30, was watching the events unfold surrounding the arrest orders issued by the Islamabad High Court on his television from Basho village, a valley in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), when he suffered a heart attack, said Gulam Ali, a resident of Skardu. The incident could not be immediately reported due to poor communication facilities in the village.
“We were informed about the tragedy by the relatives of the deceased,” said Manzoor Yoltar, the chief organiser of the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), the former president’s party.
Musharraf’s arrest was ordered after his bail plea was rejected in the judges’ confinement case. He was later taken to his Chak Shehzad farm house in Islamabad, which was declared as a sub-jail.
In Basho village, which is about 250 kilometers from Gilgit and 50 kilometers from Skardu, TV programmes are accessible through dish antennas. The village lacks mobile or telephone services, however.
As the news of Nisar’s death got out, APML’s regional leaders, including Muzaffar Parvi, Ali Arman and Ali Haider, paid a visit to Nisar’s house for condolences and to pay tribute.
“The former president is being humiliated and this is something Musharraf’s fans and lovers cannot endure,” said Yoltar, adding the plight of Musharraf shocked Nisar and he died out of grief.
During Musharraf’s rule, G-B witnessed mega-development projects, including the establishment of the Karakoram International University.

@Irfan: You are either a simpleton or oblivious of ground realities.
Pakistan cannot stay out of a war if people from Pakistan are part of the war in Afghanistan. The drone attacks happen because people from the FATA go into Afghanistan. The only way to stop the drone attacks is either to not let Pakistanis go into Afghanistan, or to resist Amreeka militarily.
You decide!
*Musharraf is Hero of Pakistan. The current scenario reveals all institutions are in wrong hands......"WINNING ULTIMATELY OF TRUE".... Hope in future Musharraf wipe out all corrupt elements and play significant role in development of Pakistan. Best of Luck Musharraf... G A Musharraf....G A APML*
@SHOCKED: Bugti was killed to maintain rit of govt, as he was challenging and creating state within a state. Thumbs up for that Musharaf. Lal masjid was hijacked by taliban and millitants where there otherwise only police could handled so called innocent and unarmed people inside. 10/10 Musharaf for that. Whole govt of that time is involved in NRO case whay only Musharaf. ??
@Ahmed Ali Khan: Why am I wrong? Please provide some points to prove me wrong. Didnt Mush committed the acts what I have written above about?
@pfn: such as????and how would you compare Musharraf government with any other government of Pakistan
I feel sorry for the poor man who died. But dying for this man who made lots of young men of the Northern Area killed due to his misadventure in Kargil would not be fair!! He has blood of innocent people at our borders being killed even today to answer for...
@ Zaheer. You wrote: For the residents of Islamabad: Can we arrange a peaceful protest??? a peaceful protest against the vicious acts of the black coats and the misuse of the judicial power by the so called honourable judges…????
Yes, everyone should participate in peaceful protests. They are happening and you should learn through internet sources. Go to the Musharraf Facebook page. There are demonstrations being arranged around the world.
Thi is not the time to sit idly and just comment on stories and feel sad.
@Raja:
Well Raja 30 yrs normal people can die too of heart attack. My younger brother's friend died of heart attack who was around 30 or may be even less and not even married. So I can believed the story and all the commenters I believe they have the same opinion.
@Mohammad:
My feelings exactly. My blood pressure has gone up for the treating of Musharraf in the courts and in the media. Until he come to Pakistan, the media and take his interviews and ask when is coming to Pakistan and when he is here they are laughing. The court bais action makes many people sick.
Sir Pervez Musharaf, This is the love and respect you have earned that no other politician can even dream of. We salute you for your services. RIP.
@Madiha: Do you forget that he unconstitutionally removed a government..he agreed on LIVE TV that he allowed USA to do the drone attacks..50K people have died of the drone attacks!!.What about the missing people?? who is responsible??.then the Lal Masjid and the Bugti Case as well...& worst of all he signed a NRO between Zardari and Nawaz for criminals to contest elections in 2008 and destroy Pakistan as it is today!! whats wrong with you guys? do your research and open your mind to other people..sirf apnay baray mai na socho!! @elementary: If you are a doctor you should not forget mind body connections. There are thousands of documented cases in medical literature where an apparently healthy person died suddenly because of a very bad news. It could be due to a sudden induced cardiac arrythmia or severe generalised vaso dilitation.This is basic physiolgy.
ET - Where are your standards? Have you verified the story? 30yr olds don't die from heart attacks unless they are in really really really poor health. Please don't insult your readers.
All pro Musharaf key board warriors on this forum should take to the streets if they are so sad .....You guyz got him here .... he was deluded into thinking that the approx 1 million likes on FB will translate into some sort of "ACTUAL" support !!
For the residents of Islamabad: Can we arrange a peaceful protest??? a peaceful protest against the vicious acts of the black coats and the misuse of the judicial power by the so called honourable judges...????
I am shocked and astonished to see this news item and the reaction of the people here. I am sure thousands of Baloch were in grief when Bugti was killed. I am sure thousands of Islamists were grieved when the Lal Masjid Operation took place. I am sure that thousands of Karachiites were grieved on the 12th May. I am sure millions of Pakistanis were grieved when Musharraf signed the NRO and protected the corrupt politicians who are responsible for the deaths of THOUSANDS of people like Kacho Nisar. So please stop making news out of a non-issue or please give the same due coverage to other political groups!!!
Come from an apolitical environment but the outpouring of emotions I've seen for this guy is incredible. I've never seen grown men cry, but for him, they did. The only problem I've had with him is the NRO, otherwise, he did so much incredible work.
When I saw lawyers beating up those men yesterday, knowing that they have the upper hand because they are the ones who control "law", I just felt ashamed. They should be the ones behind bars, not him.
Musharraf's words from all those years ago still resonate: Pakistan ka Khuda Hafiz. sigh. Maybe it's time for a wikileaks-style expose on the leaders and judiciary.
As a doctor it really exasperates me to see the physical illnesses attributed to a non physical cause.It may just have been a coincidence . How can you report it as clear cause and effect without any evidence.This is irresponsible reporting.
@Anam: National Hero.....!
The General Deserves it. At least for cleansing....
Wake up people. They are humiliating the national hero and we are watching that silently. wake up
It is very doubtful that a 30 year old would die from grief unless he was already suffering from a very serious health problem, and was at a stage in his life where he was about to die anyway. Logic would tell us that normally healthy people do not die from grief. Let ex-President Musharraf have his day in court, and hopefully the truth will come out.
I have been reading the news and comments. My sympathies with Mr. Nisar.
There is so much support on the net for him. Where are the foot soldiers? ..Curious
Kinda a ironic that Mush is administered the same medicine he administered his oponents. People were jailed, handed over to US, hounded and threatened by Mush. I feel sorry for the departed soul but Mush has hardle any support in this country which he (mis) ruled for nine years.
Though it is quite unfortunate that a man died of heart attack, but how exactly a military dictator who amongst many other wrongful acts was responsible for the infamous NRO could be described a hero. Beats my imagination.
Kacho Nasir may your soul rest in peace. Your thoughts in Gilgit Baltistan resonate with millions. We are waiting for our tipping point. May gid gives courage to your family to bear this loss of a 30 year old son.
May Allah protect Musharraf and give Hydayat to our people
Its indeed shocking and disturbing for all of us ... Its unbearable to see our national hero being treated like this ...
I doubt you can understand the consequences we are facing due to mush's stupiditys.
Am too a fan of Musharraf and could not sleep for a week due to the biased and revengeful acts from a judiciary we were proud of being Independent. Lets face the reality that we are humiliating an ex-president of Pakistan not and Individual named Musharraf!
there is no doubt.. when I heard the news of Musharraf's bail rejected by IHC and he is going to be tried under terrorist act, I clearly felt that something wrong in my head and body functions. I tried myself to calm down and drank some water...and yes it is true, since the arrival of Musharraf, I am following every news, every column and every word on social media about Musharraf.
We pray for his good health and getting out of this mess created by joint venture of judiciary, lawyers, politicians & somehow by media.
Aaah i got almost same feeling :(:(
Its really disturbing & heart breaking to see Ex-President Musharraf stuck with such situation, equally feel saddened for Nisar, may his soul rest in peace. Long Live Musharraf
