PARACHINAR: Despite threats and the volatile situation in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), candidates of the Awami National Party (ANP) launched their election drive in Kurram Agency on Thursday.

A public procession was held on Dandar Road. A large number of people participated, including the local leaders of the ANP.

The ANP candidate for NA-37, Daulat Ali, and other leaders who spoke on the occasion claimed tribal people enjoy political freedom. They attributed this to the efforts of Bacha Khan.

Ali said ANP’s efforts paved the way for the restoration of peace in Fata. “If you want peace, vote for the ANP to strengthen and unite Pukhtuns in all walks of life.”

He further said if Pukhtuns did not approach the situation wisely, anti-state elements are “hell bent to unleash further anarchy in this region”.
