ISLAMABAD:

Short of funds has snagged the construction and renovation work on the shrine of Bari Imam.

“Only 84 per cent renovation work has been completed, while funds for the second phase are still awaited,” Sajada Nasheen of Bari Imam, Talib Hussain Dabang, said on Wednesday.

He said that, under the PC-1 of the project, the work was started in April 2008 with a cost of Rs 641 million.

The work included landscaping, construction of roads leading to the shrine and clearing of electrical wires.

Hussain said that the Urs of Bari Imam was also delaying due to non-completion of the construction work and security threats.

He said that due to slow pace of work, devotees, who come from across the country, face difficulties to stay in the shrine.

Ali Sher, a devotee from Chakwal, said that it’s sad that we are being deprived of the Urs over some reason or the other every year. They should arrange it at the earliest now, he added.
