Disqualified Candidates: LHC moved for Articles 62, 63

Justice Shah directed ECP and government lawyers to appear before the court on April 2.

LAHORE: Justice Mansoor Ali Shah of the Lahore High Court on Monday sought a reply from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on a petition seeking the implementation of Articles-62 and 63 (regarding the eligibility to be members of parliament) during the scrutiny of nomination papers for several candidates.

Justice Shah directed ECP and government lawyers to appear before the court on April 2 to assist the court on constitutional points raised in the petition.

Munir Ahmed, the petitioner, prayed the court to issue directions to the ECP to implement Articles 62 and 63 while scrutinising the nomination papers filed by several candidates.
