Roads reopen as water recedes at Manchar

With waters receding in Manchar Lake, land routes between Sehwan and Bajara have become operational again. Water from the lake flooded nearby areas three days ago after breaches were made to prevent the lake from bursting its banks.

Floodwaters had inundated Union Council Dal completely while 70 per cent of the villages of Channa, Talti, Bobak, Bhan Saeed Abad had also been flooded. With the water level falling now, residents who had earlier evacuated from the danger zones in Sehwan and Bajara, have started returning home.

The army is distributing relief goods and food to the affected people in the area.

Meanwhile in Thatta, authorities are trying to plug the breach developed in Kot Almo embankment.  A large portion of the breach, which flooded Jati and Sujawal areas, has been filled while the remaining part will take up to four days.

Though water level has subsided in 70 per cent of Sujawal, low-lying areas are still flooded.

The favouritism in the relief camps is on the rise as the administration of the camps is providing relief goods, including tents and ration bags, to their favourite people.

Flood survivors in the relief camps alleged that the rivals of Pakistan Peoples Party have been deprived of due relief. A relief camp has also been set up by PML-Q lawmaker Marvi Memon where relief goods are being distributed among the flood-hit people.

A temporary hospital has been set up in a local wedding hall.
