ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira voiced his concerns over the two names nominated by the opposition for the interim prime minister, Express News reported Saturday.

Kaira told the media in Islamabad on Saturday that, “Justice Nizam was Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid’s brother-in-law and (Asif Ali) Zardari, who was already in jail, was implicated in his murder case. Therefore, my concerns are that he won’t be able to do justice with PPP; and hence, he does not qualify to be the interim PM.”

Expressing his concern over Rasool Bux Palejo’s nomination, he said that Palejo’s son Ayaz Latif Palejo is PPP’s opponent. “He (Latif Palejo) is the leader of a political party, who has made an alliance against PPP in the elections.”

The information minister explained that due to these reservations, he had said that the opposition leader has made a joke by naming these candidates. Kaira demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan review their (nominees) relationship with PPP before reaching a decision.

Responding to a question, Kaira said that new names can still be proposed.
