MQM puts forward nomination for interim premier, Sindh chief minister

Dr Ishrat Husain and Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid nominated for PM post by MQM.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) nominated former governor of the State Bank of Pakistan Dr Ishrat Husain and Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid for the position of caretaker prime minister on Friday, reported Express News.

Husain is currently the dean and director of the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi, the oldest business school in Asia.

Justice Nasir has been a robust defender of people’s rights and one of the most respected names of the country’s superior judiciary.

MQM leader, Farooq Sattar wrote a letter to opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar to confirm the nominations.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) nominated former finance minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Dr Ishrat Husain and Justice (retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khosa, who hails from Balochistan, for interim prime minister.

The Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) has nominated Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid and Justice (retd) Shakirullah Jan, and Rasul Bakhsh Palejo, a veteran Sindhi politician.

Caretaker Sindh chief minister

Having taken up their seats on the opposition benches in the Sindh Assembly, the MQM presented its five nominees for Sindh caretaker chief minister.

The Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly Syed Sardar Ahmed revealed the nominees during a press conference.

The names were of Muneeb Ahmad Khan, Justice (retd) Ghaux Muhammad, Habibur Rehman, Nasir Aslam Zahid and Mehmood Alam Rizvi.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) nominated,  Justice retired Deedar Hussain and Justice retired Hamid Mirza,  for the care taker chief minister.

@abcde: Brother MQM matters as they have their one vote in 8 membered parliamentary committee. It can make or break for anyone. So they decide! If they give their one vote to PPP then they win otherwise if they keep their vote with PMLN then it would be 4-4 tied so they are pretty important at both federal and provincial level
