LAHORE: Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial of the Lahore High Court has directed judges of consumer courts in the Punjab to hear cases in all the districts of their divisions at least once a week.

At present, consumer courts are established in Lahore, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Bahawalpur, Multan and Dera Gazi Khan districts.

In a notification issued on Thursday, the Lahore High Court chief justice said that the consumer courts were providing speedy and inexpensive justice, but their network was limited to only 11 districts.

“Due to the non-availability of courts in the rest of the districts, litigants and their counsel had to approach the districts of their jurisdiction having this facility,” the notification added.
