LAHORE:

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has started the first reading of assessments of its targeted 110 National Assembly seats out of a total of 148, which fall in Punjab.

PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif presided over party meetings at district levels, where he assessed the reports on potential candidates for the 110 NA seats across the province.

He had earlier held party meetings for Gujranwala and Gujrat districts, during which he analysed the assessment reports. On Monday, he presided over meetings for Narowal and Chakwal districts.

District presidents and the party’s senior leadership assessed the reports and formed a party committee to separate its report on these seats.

In Narowal, out of three NA seats, the party finalised NA-117 for Ahsan Iqbal and NA-115 for Owais Qasim Khan, but a candidate for NA-116 has yet to be named.

Meanwhile, PP-132’s candidate will be Awais Qasim, PP-133’s Famer Asgher, PP-134’s Manan Khan, PP-135’s Wasim Butt and PP-136’s Col. Shujat Ahmed Khan.

In Chakwal, out of two NA seats, the PML-N has six candidates to choose from.

Two former PML-Quaid MPAs, Humaira Awais Shahid and Ayesha Javed, joined the PML-N on Monday. Javed resigned as an MPA and submitted her form for an MNA’s seat to the party’s secretariat.

Hazara Tehreek chief Sardar Yusuf also joined the PML-N, saying he would make an official announcement at a public gathering in Mansehra.

PML-Q’s Minister of State for Education and Training Sardar Shahjehan Yousuf along with his son Sardar Yousuf also joined the PML-N.

Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani will meet Nawaz on Tuesday (today) after which he will announce he is joining the PML-N.
