KARACHI:

The Sindh Assembly speaker, Nisar Khuhro, has finally allotted opposition seats to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) members on Thursday. The party has yet to appoint its opposition leader.

According to notification, the seats have only been allotted to those MPAs who had submitted their applications.

Sindh Assembly acting secretary Farooque Ahmed Buriro said out of 50 lawmakers of the party only 30 had applied for opposition seats. “The MPAs who are ministers will be allotted seats after the governor accepts their resignations,” he added.

The party had nominated Syed Sardar Ahmed as its opposition leader, but since he was also a minister and his resignation has yet to be accepted, the party has temporarily proposed the name of Aamir Moin Pirzada.
