The report said at least 351 incidents of suicides and suicide attempts were reported during last one month.
KARACHI: At least 225 people including 73 women committed suicide during the one month, according to report by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP).
According to the report, most of these people ended their lives due to poverty and hostile circumstances.
The report said at least 351 incidents of suicides and suicide attempts were reported during the last one month. However, only 39 First Investigation Reports (FIR) were registered against these incidents.
The report also mentioned that at least 18 people were killed in the name of honour in Sindh, which include Ghtoki’s eight-year-old Dadan, while at least 27 people including 21 women were sexually maltreated across the country, which include a four-year-old in Matli and a five-year-old girl in Tando Muhammed Khan.
Experts said the hike in suicidal incidents in the country is an alarming phenomenon and blamed the rampant non-tolerance in the society as the main reason.

Tolerance is the main issue behind every suicide attempt.
Pakistan is a backward country. Those who belong to villages and moved to big cities have not changed their mind set.
The other reason is enforcement of law. There are very less people in society who work for others, otherwise every single person in the country is not only selfish but rude and incapable of tolerating mistakes of others.
The question arises: how can we stop people from committing suicide? This requires a serious debate and to draw a conclusion and to implement on the suggestions which come from various quarters.Recommend

I cant believe all this happened in just one month. and may i add, that last month was not jsut any month of the year; it was the month of ramadan! How can all these people do this to themselves and others?? I am so shocked and disappointed. Our country should have been able to see this coming and done something to stop it in any way possible. i am so hurt to know that the conditions were so terrible that the citizens decided death was a better option. oh my, thats horrible. Firstly, its a huge sin to commit suicide in Islam, and second, that too in the month of Ramadan. and Third, shame on our nation!!Recommend
