Severe weather: Three killed, two bodies found after five days

Five people were also injured in incidents across the valley.

At least three persons were killed and another five injured in various incidents across the valley on Saturday, according to the police.


Police said two bodies were dug out from under a huge pile of snow which descended upon the valley on Tuesday at Banjot village of Charbagh tehsil.

“Locals started removing snow accumulated by the avalanche from the roads and found the bodies of two men identified as Adam Khan and Safiullah,” said Fawadullah, a resident of the area. Both deceased were handed over to their families for burial.



In another incident, four people were injured when the roof of a house collapsed after an avalanche struck Tango area of Miandam village following heavy snow. Locals shifted the injured to a hospital in Khwazakhela tehsil where they are currently receiving treatment. Sources at the hospital said all the injured are now out of danger.

Elsewhere, a child drowned while his sister was injured when both siblings fell into a well in Tindodag village.

According to the Rahimabad police, the two children were playing near a well in their front yard when they accidently fell in. When the two were pulled out, Izhar, 8, was pronounced dead, while his sister was shifted to Saidu Sharif hospital.
