KARACHI: Demands for the redrawing of Karachi’s constituencies boundaries are sound, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif said on Friday, Express News reported.
While speaking to media, the PML-N chief said that some forces were working to hold back elections and that his party will not let them do so.
Nawaz's statements follow the Supreme Court observation that the absence of a fresh census may not hinder the Election Commission of Pakistan from performing its constitutional duty of delimitation of Karachi.
On November 26, 2012, a five-member bench of the apex court had observed that constituencies in Karachi should be delimited in a manner that they comprise “mixed population” to avoid political polarisation.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) opposed delimitation, saying that a census is needed first.
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim had also said that there will be no delimitation of constituencies in Karachi and that the process is not only difficult but an impossible task.

PMLN should stay out of Karachi matters because it has no representation. In fact it should not meddle in any socio-political matters of Sindh because it doesn't even have a counselor from the region.
Army operation, judicial courts & extra-judicial killings were the hallmark of PMLN's rule and it will never be forgiven. Setting up dry ports in Punjab to steal Karachi's revenue & destroying Pakistan Steel Mills and Karachi's ship-breaking industry to boost Ittefaq Foundaries won't be forgotten.
On the other hand Musharraf did manage to revive the steel mills somewhat and brought historic peace & development in Karachi
