Outreach: UAF to train farmers

VC says that the university would also open its satellite branches in other parts of the province.

FAISALABAD: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) will introduce an outreach programmes under which scientists will train the farming community with modern agricultural techniques, Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said on Thursday.

He was presiding over a meeting of lecturers and assistant professors at the New Senate Hall. Registrar Muhammad Hussain was also present.

The VC said that the university would also open its satellite branches in other parts of the province.

He directed the meeting to start working on providing lectures of all disciplines for the web portal.

He said some new disciplines would also be set up soon. In the last five years, he said, the number of disciplines taught at the university had doubled.

He urged the meeting participants to come up with agricultural solutions to the problems faced by farmers.  The registrar said that 226 lecturers were working at the UAF, of which 40 had completed their doctorate degrees, while 60 were perusing theirs.
