PESHAWAR:

Nearly 24 Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) militants invaded a house in Mera Balarzai, near Badhaber police station, and abducted five men on Tuesday night.

The LI militants fled after taking Lobia Gul, his sons Irfan and Hazrat Hussain, and their guests Ibad Khan and Noor Hussain, residents said.

“They did not face any resistance and abducted the men,” said a local elder, requesting anonymity. The kidnapped men belong to Zaka Khel Afridi tribe from Bara, but were living in Mera Balarzai since the past few years.

“Militants warned the women that all five would be put to death immediately if any FIR was registered or the police informed,” added the elder.

A  Badhaber police official said no one had filed an FIR as yet.

Residents said the entire area has been gripped by fear after four people were killed in the middle of the night two weeks ago. Those executed were active members of the local peace militia and the Mufti Mehbobul Haq-led militants, Ansarul Islam, who are currently fighting the Mangal Bagh-led LI for the control of Tirah valley, Khyber Agency.
