Civic facilities: K-P govt to launch school city among other projects

Advisor to Chief Minister unearths development plans for the city.

With a view to bring all schools at one place, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government will soon launch the school city on 100-kanal land in Hayatabad. The plan also aims to ease the traffic problems in the area.


This was stated by advisor to the K-P Chief Minister Haroon Bilour while addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday. He said the land would be auctioned in the coming few days and the school owners would be offered two to three kanals, adding that those who give good profit to the government would be given the land.

“The provincial government has limited days after which the caretaker government will be set up so we will try our best to complete all developmental projects that were started by my late father Senior Minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour and start other projects too ,” Bilour told journalists.



He added that concrete steps would be taken for the cleanliness and development of the city. In his regard, he said that municipal volunteers in Gul Bahar and University Town would run awareness campaigns to help the residents keep their city clean. Furthermore, the replacing of old pipes of drinking water would also start soon.

Haroon further said that a chairlift would be established between Ayubia and Chandia to facilitate the visitors while a small zoo would also be constructed in Shahi Bagh so that the glory of city restore in its true shape.

He said that 100 kanals of a 250-kanal land would be utilised for the school city while rest 150 kanals for setting up of hospital and other developmental projects.



“The beautification work on the entrance of the city will be started soon,” he said, adding the flyover in Hayatabad will be inaugurated this month which will be helpful to reduce the traffic mess.

Bilour went on to say that an underpass would be constructed near the newly-established Arbab Sikandar Khan Flyover while the ongoing construction work on under passes near Tehkal and Jehangir Abad would be completed in a month.

“We will set up Bashir Bilour Shaheed Trust that will comprise lawyers, doctors, journalists and people of other walks of life while family members of those killed with Bashir Bilour would be given education to graduation while the other martyrs of the terrorism will also be compensated” he said. He announced a sum of Rs1 million for the press club in which Rs0.6 million were those announced by his late father while Rs0.4 million is new grant.
