SUKKUR: Tragedy struck a wedding in Yar Muhammad Burdi village in Larkana late on Sunday when the qazi who solemnised the nikah was reportedly killed by a stray bullet after guests started celebratory firing in the air.

The incident took place within Dhamra police limits. According to reports, Ali Jan Buledi had invited Wali Dad Jagirani to solemnise his nephew’s nikkah. After the ceremony was over, the guests started aerial firing and a stray bullet hit the peshimam in the chest, and he died on the spot. After receiving information about the incident, Dhamra police rushed to the village and shifted the body to Chandka Hospital Larkana for postmortem, and later handed it over to family.

However, Imam Din Jagirani, the father-in-law of the victim, claimed that Wali Dad was involved in a dispute with members of the Buledi clan. He added that Ali Jan Buledi had visited Wali Dad’s house on Sunday and asked him to perform the nikah of his nephew.

However, he was deliberately shot by Ali Jan Buledi and his accomplices, claimed Jaigrani. An FIR of the incident was registered against Buledi and other unidentified men, but no arrests had been made.  Dhamra police SHO Hulio Munir confirmed that the victim’s family has blamed the Buledi clansmen of premeditated murder. The accused locked their houses and fled after the incident, and we are trying to trace them, said Munir.
