Rise of the Zombie, first Indian zombie thriller

Rise of the Zombie (ROTZ), India’s first zombie thriller promises to give you chills. Its lead actor, Luke Kenny, says the long process of prosthetic make-up for his final look in the movie was “excruciating”.


In the movie, Kenny plays the role of Neil Parker, a passionate wildlife photographer who pays more attention to wildlife than his own life and later transforms into a zombie.

He admits that getting into the look used to take him four to five hours every day. “It was an excruciating experience, but I am glad that ROTZ will be India’s first zombie film. It was worth it,” Kenny said in a statement.

“Ritu Jhanjani, who has done her workshops in Hollywood has done an excellent job with the prosthetic make-up. She is truly world-class,” he added.

Talking about the film, he said, “It is a horror thriller and the Indian audience loves horror films, especially the youth, who comprise a huge majority of the movie audience.”

The logo of the movie shows a half blood-stained face with blood dripping from the mouth and thin legs in the mouth of a zombie. A feather near the shoulder suggests the zombie ate a bird.

Co-directed by Kenny and Devaki Singh, and co-produced by BSI Entertainment and Kenny Media, the movie is slated to release February 22.
