Tennis: Kaleem takes win in under-14 event

The second leg of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Master cup began yesterday in Islamabad, where under-14 number one Nofil Kaleem breezed through his group A match as he defeated Hafiz Arbab Ali 6-2, 6-0, but lost in the under-18 group B match against Arham Atiq 6-1, 6-3.


In the under-18 singles event, Mohammad Mudasir overcame Talha Zubair 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-4 in two hours, while Kashan ul Haq defeated Mohammad Muzamil 2-6, 6-2,6-3. In another match, Hasnain Manzoor outplayed HEC’s Ejaz Khan 6-3,6-1.

The event, featuring 16 of the country’s top under-18 and under-14 players, has been divided into two groups, and each player will play three round-robin matches.
