New ventures: With a focus on mental health, The City School launches new project

Experts held workshops offering insight into human psychology.

The City School launched its new network-wide training and awareness on behavioural counselling on Saturday.


At a conference held at Pearl Continental Hotel, several experts in the field of mental health gathered to discuss ways to help students and their parents understand the needs of the new generation. Nearly 150 people from The City School network in Karachi, Hyderabad and Quetta attended the conference.

The programme is part of The City School’s Vision 2020 through which the school has decided not to settle for anything less than the maximum potential of its students. “We don’t just provide them with quality education but a reliable support system and a learning environment,” said a statement issued by the school.

The school administration claimed that they understand the stress that students face with their personal and academic development. The Supporting Millenial Conference is a first step to create awareness about the unique needs of the Millenial, students born between 1984 and 2004.

A distinguished mental health practitioner, Dr Rakhshanda Talat Hussain, delivered the keynote speech. The speech was followed by an educational consultant specialising in psychology and education, Anika Naeem’s, workshop on ‘Dialogue - An Interactive Forum for gaining insight into human psychology’. Next, Government College University Lahore psychology department head Dr Asir Ajmal gave a workshop on ‘Managing disruptive behaviour, creating positive class ethos.

University of Karachi’s psychology department chairperson Dr Rubina Feroze gave a lecture on ‘Support through the Teens, and Essential Skills for Parenting. Dr Huma Baqai and others were also present.
