DI KHAN:

As many as 10 area incharges have refused to participate in the polio immunisation drive scheduled to take place in Frontier Region on January 28, said one of the incharges on Tuesday.

He said unless the area incharges are paid their salaries, they will not participate in the upcoming polio campaign, asking the World Health Organization to intervene.

The area incharges who participated in the previous six polio campaigns during last three months, were deprived of salaries due to a dispute between two doctors over holding the post of Agency Surgeon in the region.

In addition, 44 workers who conducted the previous polio campaigns, were also deprived of salaries.

“The dispute between Dr Abbas and Dr Jamshed is in the court, but the dispute has caused delay in the payment of our salaries,” said Haji Dilawar Khan, an affected area incharge and resident of Darazida.

He added that despite contacting the political administration multiple times, the issue has not been resolved, creating problems for him and his family.

When contacted, an official at the office of the political administration siad that he does not know of the issue, however the assistant political agent was not available for comments.
