Multiple explosions: Girl injured in blast at basic health unit

Militants blow up government school for boys.

SHERGARH: A girl was injured when unidentified militants blew up a Basic Health Unit (BHU) and a school in separate incidents in Mardan on Thursday.

Aiman, daughter of Masood Khan, was on her way to school when a blast occurred at BHU, Takkar Takhat Bhai at around 8:30am, leaving her severely injured. She was rushed to Mardan Medical Complex in critical condition.

According to BHU in-charge Dr Samiullah, the surrounding wall of the structure was destroyed while the windows were shattered in the explosion along with all other glassware. He added that he was en route to the health unit when he heard the blast.

In a separate incident, a government middle school for boys was blown up around midnight. The blast destroyed the boundary wall and three classrooms of the school.



The school’s watchman, Shaukat Ali filed a case with the police saying he was sleeping in his house, which is in close vicinity of the school, at the time of the explosion, according to Lond Khawar police official Shafiullah.

Officials of the bomb disposal squad said four kilogrammes of explosives were used.
