BANNU: Station House Officer (SHO) of Hawaid police, who was earlier injured in crossfire with militants in Takhti Khel area of Bannu, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.

SHO Imam Hassan, 49, was shot during a raid at the house of a suspected militant, Amin Shah on Sunday. He was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital and then shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) after surgery because of his critical condition.

Dr Anwar Shah, who performed the surgery, said four bullets struck the police officer. “Two bullets hit him on his right arm, one on his leg and another one, which proved fatal, hit him on his abdomen resulting in severe internal bleeding. When the bleeding didn’t stop after the surgery, we referred him to LRH,” said the doctor, adding that the SHO succumbed to his injuries at 2:10am in Peshawar.

His body was shifted to Bannu for funeral prayers, which were attended by the district police officer, deputy inspector general and other police officials along with residents of the area. The deceased was then taken to his hometown of Baram Khel in Lakki Marwat where funeral prayers were offered once again before he was laid to rest.

Hassan’s gunman, Sifatullah, told The Express Tribune he had been with the SHO for the last 10 years.

“He would often say to me that he will die in the line of duty one day,” said Sifatullah. “I was always treated like family in his house and was well acquainted with them. I also spent three nights with the SHO in his village during Chehlum.”

Hassan is survived by a widow, three sons and four daughters. His eldest son, Ali Hassan, is a first year pre-engineering student, while his other two sons are in grade six and seven.

I am just wondering loud. When did Pak Police switch over to using the US officers' caps?

The Star of David is very befitting.
