KARACHI: Tahirul Qadri, the leader of Minhajul Quran International, should run seminaries rather than indulge in politics, said the Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, in a statement on Saturday. The minister advised Qadri to cancel his long march because the government would not allow anyone to take the nation hostage while claiming to bring reform. He also condemned the language used by Minhajul Quran against the members of parliament. “There are serious threats to Qadri’s life,” said Memon. “The Pakistan People’s Party has lost its leader, Benazir Bhutto, and many other workers and leaders in this wave of terrorism. We, once again, advise Qadri to give up on his long march.” Qadri is expected to lead the long march to Islamabad on Monday. The Muttahida Qaumi Movement, who had earlier pledged their support, will no longer take part in the march.
