McLaren chief Martin Whitmarsh promised Sergio Perez that he will be treated with the same respect as Jenson Button in the new season.

“The fact is Button has got the advantage here,” said Whitmarsh. “He knows the team, he’s got the experience and he’s been world champion. But he will be very generous to Perez; he’ll be generous in his time, his opinion, his guidance. Both drivers will definitely receive equal treatment.”

Webber has trouble with pressure: Marko

Meanwhile, Helmut Marko believes Mark Webber cracks under the pressure that comes with being in with a chance of the world championship, according to ESPN.

The Red Bull adviser told the Red Bulletin that Webber lacks the consistency to mount a sustained title challenge.

“It seems to me that Webber has on average two races per year where he is unbeatable,” said Marko. “But unfortunately he can’t maintain this form throughout the year. As soon as his prospects start to look good in the world championship, he has a little trouble with the pressure that this creates.”
